Am I Eligible for a T-Mobile Cell Phone Upgrade?
Not all existing T-Mobile customers qualify for contract extensions. T-Mobile alone sets threshold rules as to who is eligible for a contract extension, as follows: You must be at least 22 months into your 2 year contract. (sometimes T-Mobile will waive this for high spending customers.

How do I qualify for an upgrade? There are multiple levels of upgrade discounts available to you. You start qualifying for upgrade discounts upon the 12th month since your last discounted purchase. The multiple levels of upgrades and the requirements are as follows:

Early Upgrade You must be on a 2-year contract and meet both of these requirements: 12-17 months since your last upgrade On a qualifying rate plan*

Early Upgrade Plus For smart phones, this is a better discount than Early Upgrade; for phones, it is the same as Early Upgrade. You must be on a 2-year contract and meet both of these requirements: 18-21 months since your last upgrade On a qualifying rate plan*

Same As New This is a better discount than Early Upgrade Plus. You must be on a 2-year contract and meet both of these requirements: 22 months since your last upgrade On a qualifying rate plan* If you are on a 1-year contract, you must meet both of these requirements: 11 months since your last upgrade On a qualifying rate plan*

Notes and requirements: To qualify, your rate plan must be*: $29.99 or greater for a single line $49.99 or greater for a shared family plan There is a 30-day waiting period discounted purchases. During that time, you may pay full price as an upgrade option. You must sign a new two-year service agreement each time you upgrade. Of course, if you do not want to sign a new service agreement, you can always purchase a new phone at full price. The choice is yours!

Note that eligibility results may vary based on a variety of conditions including, but not limited to a customer’s usage history, payment record, previous phone replacement, etc. Upgrade eligibility is determined by T-Mobile in its sole discretion. Account approval will vary.
